BUFFY's Career Plans!!

I am – Hercules!!

The first week of summer has been a busy one for spoilage on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

Entertainment Weekly has a brief item in its big new “It” double issue indicating the slayer is quitting the Doublemeat to work at the rebuilt Sunnydale High. Custodian? Gym teacher? Cafeteria worker? Librarian? Lord knows it might be tricky luring the school’s old faculty back, considering the facility’s troubled history. Whatever Buffy’s role, it should thoroughly horrify Dawn, who will be attending the rebuilt institution come September.

Series creator Joss Whedon also tells EW that “everyone’s worst nightmare” will wreak havoc in Sunnydale.

The story goes on to confirm that Spike will remain a vampire, albeit one with a soul, and that Willow will visit Giles in England in an effort to rid her of lingering magic.

By the way, series writer Jane Espenson reportedly indicates that the “perfect moment of happiness” problem was something specific to the curse placed by Jenny Calendar’s clan on Angel, and will not be a problem for the former William the Bloody.

Meanwhile, Whedon tells scifi.com that he hopes to bring back the surviving Nerds of Doom “because they made us laugh.”

Finally, much has been made of Whedon’s assertion that Amber Benson will be returning to “Buffy,” even though Tara won’t. Herc speculates that Benson, who’s written a few Buffyverse-related comic books, may sign on to craft teleplays (a number of regular “Buffy” and “Angel” writers will be busy contributing to “Firefly” this season). It might also help to keep in mind that Benson gave voice to the first slayer in “Restless.”
