Ready for a "family-friendly" PG-13 remake of THE TOXIC AVENGER from the man partly responsible for perhaps the most loathed film in the history of AICN?
According to Deadline New York's Michael Fleming, BATMAN & ROBIN mastermind (and Academy Award-winner) Akiva Goldsman will, along with Richard Saperstein and Charlie Corwin, produce a new version of Michael Herz's and Lloyd Kaufman's cult classic - which just got turned into an off-Broadway musical for the third fucking time! The Goldsman-guided project will be completely different from the song-and-dance iteration; tonally, they're going for something akin to Jim Carrey's THE MASK. Screenwriters have yet to be hired. I'm sure this will be a nice first paycheck for some up-and-coming scribe(s).
