Rian Johnson's Concert Film Of The Mountain Goats' THE LIFE OF THE WORLD TO COME Streaming For Free At Pitchfork!

Beaks here...

A camera, some dolly track, and John Darnielle is all Rian Johnson needs to make compelling cinema. Thanks to the generous folks at Pitchfork, you can now watch Johnson's shot-in-one-take performance film of The Mountain Goats' 2009 album THE LIFE OF THE WORLD TO COME for free online. For those looking for something rambunctious and grandiose along the lines of THE LAST WALTZ, as concert films go, this is kinda the complete opposite: it's hushed, acoustic, and bereft of Neil Diamond. It's also, if you give it the time and attention it deserves, an intensely spiritual experience that will make you a huge Mountain Goats fan if you aren't one already. This will be available for the next week or so at Pitchfork, and then disappear from the internet. Give it a watch, why donchya? (For some reason, the embed seems to randomly skip chapters, so your best bet might be to click on the above link and watch it at Pitchfork.)
