I am Hercules!!

Longtime “24” star Kiefer Sutherland may not be able to stay away from Fox much longer.

The former Jack Bauer is negotiating to star as the father of a clairvoyant autistic lad in “Touch,” the new pilot written by “Heroes” creator-showrunner Tim Kring, according to Deadline Hollywood.

The subject matter is familiar to Kring, whose “Heroes” featured several characters who could predict the future.

    Instead of 24 ... 2.4

    by heks

Here's what they should do for a 24 movie. Still do it in real time, but instead of doing 24 hours make the movie run 2.4 hours :) And it just so happens that 0.4 of an hour is 24 minutes. So running time is 2 hrs 24 mins and instead of 24 they call it 2.4. Then they do something like the Die Hard setup. Keep the story in a relatively limited geographic area so we don't have our main characters eating up run-time with driving from one place to the next. Give him some problem to solve in a relatively small area that can be wrapped up in a little over two hours and can have lots of action, like maybe a takeover of some military and/or intelligence installation. Anyway, just an idea. It's late here, so maybe the idea sucks and I'm too tired to realize it.

    Met Kiefer yesterday

    by TheMcflyFarm

Saw him before and after the show he's doing on Broadway. Nice guy, and awesome to get both he and Jason Patric's signature on my Lost Boys DVD!

    Wow, people remember "Heroes"?

    by ChickenStu

Now that is a great example of something that started off SO WELL, but descended into an unforgivable pile of shit.

I predict the future. Tim Kring will fuck this up.

    Run away quickly Kiefer!

    by Truxton Spangler

What's with all the shitty pilots this development season? The networks, especially NBC, are desperate, so you know a fair number of them will get picked up as series, as bad a some of them sound. And I'm not sure 24 is worth revisiting if it doesn't have the good, original characters, and something other than an R rating.

Uh, might wanna think twice about that, Kiefer...

    by HarryKnowlesNonExistentInceptionReview

...Kring managed to take an entire cast full of hot young stars and turn them into complete has-beens virtually overnight!

    Funny Story about Sutherland

    by Judge Briggs

True story from 2006: My buddy steps outside for a cigarette. Lo and behold, Kiefer Sutherland steps outside for one too. He then asks my buddy for a cigarette. My friend gives him a cigarette and they start to make small talk. Finally, my friend says, 'hey! you're Kiefer Sutherland! Hey, you were SO AWESOME in Young Guns!' Kieth was like, 'huhhhh?'

I wouldn't trust Tim Kring with anything

    by D.Vader

It took him two bad seasons before he figured out how to make Heroes again, but by then it was too late.

    so jack stays in retirement.

  • February 18, 2011 10:50 AM CST

Why are people even talking to this ass?

    by veritasses

Kring is beyond being talentless. He's the anti-talent. He'll negate/destroy anything with potential. Just look how effortlessly he F'd up what should've been an easy monster hit. And then he'll go around pissing on whatever poor, misguided, foolish fans he might have. Stay away from that ass.

    Heroes 'mastermind' indeed...

Don't we have enough shitty psychic shows?

    by JacksParasites

I hope this one crashes and burns fast. The networks don't seem to have any clue anymore what people actually like and keep feeding us the same crap every year. No wonder they're getting killed by HBO and AMC.

  • February 18, 2011 12:52 PM CST

This show will suck. Zero clairvoyance needed.

    by BlackBanana

    Also, "Heroes" was awful.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    by Mike

TIM KRING IS THE BIGGEST DOUCHEBAG WHO HAS EVER BEEN ALLOWED TO BE A SHOWRUNNER. Heroes had a chance of being EPIC, instead Kring made an effort to be clear about one thing: He has never read comic books. Then, he had a storyline that portrayed comic book fans as the stereotypical geeks people think they are. He had thousands and thousands of comics at his disposal which he could have mined for storylines or storypoints that 99% of america wouldn't have recognized, but no... Kring is "above" comic books... instead, he decides to BLATANTLY rip off Cronenberg's 'The Fly' because he was too good to steal from comic books, apparently. All the guy did was make promises to the viewers and never paid off (Hiro got stupider and stupider instead of becoming the awesome Hiro we thought he would evolve into, or the fact that he spent a whole season setting up what would have been an epic fight and we got nothing close to that). If Buffy the Vampire Slayer can have tons of action with a low budget (or even a show like Chuck has great ac tion) then why couldn't Kring give everyone what we wanted? The show had no action, and whenever there was a scene that could have epic superhero action, all the prick gave us was a shot outside the room a fight was happening in where all the light seeps out the door cracks... This show wasn't made when Lois and Clark was on, where they had to cut away to a cape flowing in the wind because they couldn't do special effects... I mean, shit, Smallville has a tiny budget yet it pulls off great effects (by low budget TV standards) Heroes got to the point where I was honestly INSULTED as a viewer... I mean, in the beginning of an episode, Nathan was all about giving a bunch of soldiers he didn't know superpowers, and then at the end of THAT SAME EPISODE, he's in a limo saying that he's going to go after and arrest the people with superpowers WHO HE JUST SAVED THE WORLD WITH! And then, of course, there's Peter's girlfriend in season two that gets abandoned in the future and Peter goes on as if it never happened. Kring doesn't deserve to be in the industry in any way shape or form... total douchebag... just thinking about Heroes pisses me off.

One day Kiefer ran into me asking for a cigarette.

    by wtriker1701

I gave it to him, he mustered me and said: "Hey, aren't you wtriker1701? I've seen you on stage as Mephisto! You were GREAT! A new dimension of AWESOMENESS! You got fire, too?" I fired his cigarette, said "Huh?" Too bad, I didn't recognize him at the time. Sorry, Kiefer, for that! He shouldn't have done the last seasons of 24. Not without a great writing staff!

    by Christopher3

Too many supernatural cop shows this coming season. I don't think this one will last.

Don't give Kring control of the show

    by INWOsuxRED

Let him make the pilot and get the show running, then take it away from him before he fucks it all up.

  • February 18, 2011 3:14 PM CST

They should try doing a clairvoyant nightime soap.

    by newc0253

    it seems unlikely.

unless we're talking Mastermind in fucking things up.

    dont do it

    by Phategod100

Kiefer you got two options. 1. go back to feature film making obscure small movies like Nieson. 2. Do one of those medical dramas or CSI's that chicks love,

  • February 18, 2011 5:58 PM CST

Kring is on the same level as Berman and Braga

    by FrodoFraggins

  • February 18, 2011 6:08 PM CST

    TIM KRING =/= MASTERMIND

    by Mullah Omar

In fact, if there were justice in Hollywood, Tim Kring would never work in the entertainment industry ever again.

    by HarryKnowlesNonExistentInceptionReview

...Celebrities, like everyone else, don't really like strangers saying dumb things to them. I've been in similar situations and the best thing to do is stay cool and maybe say, "By the way, I really enjoy (whatever project they're currently working on/recently worked on)." Above all, don't start giving them creative advice and don't act like a douche.

My friend was being a smart ass. I thought it was very funny and especially because so many kiss celebrities arses. I don't know what he said was a douchey comment. In fact, I don't believe it was a douchey comment. He made the comment to be clever... not like he made up a movie, he just called out a movie that is in Sutherland's past.
