WB wants Affleck, O'Connor and Dubuque back for THE ACCOUNTANT 2!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I missed The Accountant in theaters. It was one of those things where I was traveling and when I came back everybody I knew either saw it already or had no interest in going, so I ended up coming to this one late. It was an airplane movie for me and you know what? It's a pretty perfect airplane movie. Just schlocky enough to keep me entertained while on a long flight, but not so visually spectacular I regretted watching it small my first time out.

Ben Affleck was super committed to the central conceit of a highly functioning autistic number cruncher who also happens to be a skilled assassin thanks to his strict army dad's semi-cruel childhood training.

Deadline broke the news that WB is moving forward with development on the sequel, which doesn't surprise me. The flick was (relatively) cheap to make and had a decent box office haul and even had some positive critical word. I know most of my critic friends weren't all that enthusiastic about it, but talked in a "You know what? I actually liked that one" kinda way after it came out.

WB is in negotiations with Affleck, director Gavin O'Connor and screenwriter Bill Dubuque to come back for the sequel. Deadline seems unsure if Jon Bernthal is negotiations to return as well, but if you saw the movie you'd have to assume that Bernthal will play a major role. I mean, the first movie was essentially a long build-up to getting these two conflicted characters in the same room.

I'm fine with more tales told in this universe. I mean, it's not like they're trying to make sequels to Live By Night, right? What do you folks think?
