Today the folks at Hollywoodreporter.com broke a story about a remake of 1982's foul-mouthed cinematic hit comedy cop duo "48 Hrs."! Stepping right off of their success with this year's heist film "Good Times" the directing brotherly combo of Benny and Josh Safdie will be tackling "48 Hrs." for the Paramount Players. I am very interested in who they are looking at to cast in place of Nick Nolte's and Eddie Murphy's characters and am wondering if they will be able to capture that one screen charisma those two stars exuded so well. The film is being produced by Chernin Entertainment the guys behind the Planet of the Apes reboots that have been oh so popular. Chernin will be working not only with the Safdie brothers but also producer Oscar Boyson ("Good Time" and "Heaven Knows What") and producer Sebastian Bear-McClard ("Good Time," "Broken Flowers" and "Heaven Knows What"). Seeing as all these guys have worked together before, hopefully, they have what it takes to do justice to this 80's gem.

Writing the film is co-director Josh Safdie, Ronald Bronstein who also worked with the Safdie's on "Good Time" joining them is actor-comedian Jerrod Carmichael who has worked on the films "Neighbors" and "Transformers: The Last Knight" and the popular television series "The Carmichael Show." Does this lead one to believe that Carmichael will be slipping into the shoes of the comic genius Eddie Murphy's character 'Reggie'? If so, those are some mighty large fast-talking, wise-cracking, motherfuckin' alligator skinned shoes to fill!
