"Warner Bros. relights the Bat-signal for BATGIRL!"

It's been a couple months since Joss Whedon walked from the BATGIRL film project, the studio is now working on developing an entirely new film project based on the redheaded heroine.  Christina Hodson will now write the script that was previously being worked on by Joss Whedon. Hodson(writer for the Transformers spinoff -BUMBLEBEE), will be scripting a new story that features Barbra Gordon, the headstrong daughter of Gotham Citys police commissioner James Gordon.

Barbra Gordon is today the most established version of the Batgirl, the character was originally introduced in‎ Batman #139, April of 1961, as Betty Kane. However, she was revamped in 67 when television executives wanted to try an attract more of a female audience to the classic Batman TV series. It was the response to the show faltering in its third season. Yvonne Craig portrayed the character in the series and the last live-action big-screen appearance was with Alicia Silverstone in Joel Schumacher's 1997 Batman debacle (not to mention a CG cameo in Ready Player One).

Whedon came to the project with great fanfare as usual last year. Fans(Like me) were happy the empowering icon would be in his hands. But by February this year, Whedon, for whatever reason or turn of events, failed to create a story. Hodson wrote the 2017 Warner Bros. thriller UNFORGETTABLE, Starring Katherine Heigl, and Rosario Dawson. Hodson also has already written the Batgirl character, after helping develop the feature project based on the woman only crime-fighting group BIRDS OF PREY. Hodson is represented by CAA and Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment.

Thanks for joining me, for me my favorite Batgirl moment was within The Killing Joke. That comic blew my little mind. I can still see the look on my Moms face when I asked her if she had it in stock at the comic store she worked at after it was just released.(I still have that copy) Well, I guess we'll see ya next time, same Bat time same Bat channel, Mad Dashiell signing off.
