Jack Black Announces PICK OF DESTINY 2!

Morning, geeks!

I was caught off guard this morning with news of a PICK OF DESTINY sequel! The 2006 musical/metal comedy starring Jack Black and Kyle Gass of the band Tenacious D, was kind of a flop at the box office, but gained a following over the years. Black announced the sequel during a show set of theirs.

Black stated: “I don’t know where you’ll be able to see it, but we have decided that it’s happening and it’s coming out.” Supposedly it’s coming out in October of this year! What a pleasant surprise!

Sure, the original PICK OF DESTINY wasn’t anything profound, but it was goofy and fun with its HAROLD AND KUMAR-like antics. Since this film hasn’t been officially announced by any studio yet, and there isn’t much other info on it other than it is coming out later this year, I suppose the sequel will be an extra low budget flick, and I welcome that. I doubt that Black and Gass would troll their fans like that.

If you haven't seen it, you should check out the Tenacious D music video they more than likely inspired the original PICK OF DESTINY!

Though looking back at the "rock off" with the Devil in PICK OF DESTINY, the newer version rocked a little harder. But better? I'm having a hard time deciding. Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters frontman and former drummer of Nirvana, took on the role of the Devil himself.

Whoo! I' even more pumped to see the sequel. However, I hope they spend a little more time on the lyrics this time around. Or just try to keep up what they had going through the movie. "I'm the Devil, I love Metal". Toward the end, lyrics got pretty lackluster.

I wonder if the sequel will pick up right where the first installment left off and will be called BONG OF DESTINY?

Super looking forward to seeing it later this year!
