Hola Dannie aqui,
Today brings us a picture of director Craig Brewer ("Hustle and Flow," "Black Snake Moan") with funnymen Chris Rock & Eddie Murphy in Netflix's DOLEMITE IS MY NAME. Cast alongside Murphy and Rock are Wesley Snipes ("Chi-Raq," and the "BLADE" trilogy), Da'Vine Joy Randolph ("Office Christmas Party," and "This Is Us"), Mike Epps ("The Hangover," and "Next Friday"), Craig Robinson ("This Is The End," "Hot Tub Time Machine" 1 & 2, and "The Office"), and Tituss Burgess ("Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," and "30 Rock"). Here's that photo of Brewer, Murphy, and Rock all looking fly as fuck.
The film is a biopic on the life and times of Rudy Ray Moore.
Rudy Ray Moore was an actor, a self-made man, a film producer, raunchy comedian, and earned the title of "The Godfather of Rap." Moore was a pop culture icon, he was born a sharecroppers son and rose to the sky and became a star. He burst onto the Hollywood scene in the 70's selling his underground comedy albums, a lot of which were very adult. His stand up is legendary; Moore focused on immortalizing characters from the era, with an elegant and commanding flamboyance that immortalized him. He flew into the cinematic scene like a shooting star funding the film "Dolemite" with the cash he earned from his albums.
Here is a trailer for the original "Dolemite" film.
Here is some of Rudy Ray Moores standup comedy!
Netflix is set to launch "DOLEMITE IS MY NAME" in 2019. I love Rudy Ray Moore and the blaxploitation film movement both in past and present. Brewer is a director that I believe could do absolute wonders with the mountain of talent supplied and the subject matter. I also am currently dreaming of how cool the soundtrack will turn out! What do all of you out there in Geeklandia think?
Stay Strong, Live Good, Love Movies!
