Afternoon, geeks!
Things are looking bright for Joker fans. We have two (or three depending) Joker movies coming up. What madness is this? I guess it’s Joker kind of madness. The new news today is that Alec Baldwin has been set to star in a minor role in the Joaquin Phoenix untitled Joker movie. Though it is rumored to be titled just JOKER.
What we officially know about it is that it is meant to be a Joker origin story. What is rumored about it is that it will loosley be based off of the legendary comic THE KILLING JOKE. Not that craptastic animated version that shit all over Batgirl for no reason.
This Joker flick is to be directed by Todd Phillips.
Who is Mr. Baldwin to play? There’s some speculation on CBR that he will be in a minor role as Thomas Wayne. Really, though. If we’re going to see a Thomas Wayne, I’d rather it be a FLASHPOINT Thomas Wayne as Batman! Why isn’t there a FLASHPOINT live-action movie yet?!?!!
As for the other Joker movies in the works:
The other is starring SUICIDE SQUAD’s Jared Leto Joker which will be more about Joker and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
Then there will also be a SUICIDE SQUAD 2 that supposedly will also include Jared Leto’s Joker.
There are going to be so many darn “ha ha ha’s” on the big screen to shake a stick at. What is DC thinking? My guess: they have noticed a division in the fanbase that prefers dark and gritty Batman to cartoony Burton Batman and vise-versa.
