Between film festivals, fan conventions, conducting interviews with filmmakers, and keeping up with never-ending comic book film news (and this week specifically KINGSMAN-related film news for some reason) -some trailers and other bits of promotional footage can get overlooked by us here at AICN. So, today we have the next installment of a reoccurring feature where we shine a quick spotlight on footage from upcoming films (some good/some bad) you might have missed.
THE RANDOM TRAILER ROUND UP for September 30th, 2018!
Let's get right to it!
First up we have a road trip comedy starring Jason Mantzoukas (BROOKLYN 99) and Tony Revolori (SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING) titled THE LONG DUMB ROAD.
I'm a fan of Mantzoukas and I'm also a sucker for a good "learning about yourself on a road trip" film. So, I'll be checking this one out for sure.
THE LONG DUMB ROAD will be in select theaters and on VOD starting November 16th.
Next up, we have an indie sci-fi film titled INCONTROL.
Well, I'm not sure what that was; is it about virtual reality, mind control, or something else entirely? Whatever it is... it made me want to take a nap.
INCONTROL will drop onto VOD sometime in 2018.
Okay! Next up we have one for a low budget indie horror film called OUIJA BLOOD RITUAL.
"Spread the gospel"? The gospel of OUIJA?! Ugh. Maybe I can con Freddy Beans into watching this one.
OUIJA BLOOD RITUAL releases sometime in October.
Okay, let's see if we can't raise the quality bar back up here. Let me dip into the bag of trailers for upcoming foreign films. Here we have a trailer for BURNING, a thriller out of South Korea starring Steven Yuen (THE WALKING DEAD).
That looks excellent and it's a good example of how to put together an interesting trailer without giving away too much.
BURNING hits select theaters on October 26th.
Finishing up today with have a kung fu film from mainland China. It's a spinoff of the popular Donnie Yen-fronted IP MAN series (Donnie is listed as a producer here) titled MASTER Z: IP MAN LEGACY. It stars Max Zhang (THE GRANDMASTER) as the same character he portrayed in IP MAN 3. It also features Dave Bautista (BLADE RUNNER 2049), Michele Yeoh (CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON), and Tony Jaa (ONG BAK). Most excitingly its directed by master Yuen Woo Ping (THE MATRIX trilogy)!
That looks so great! I can't wait to see it. Pay attention to Zhang. I feel he's going to be the next big martial arts star.
No word yet on when this will be released stateside but Well Go USA has picked it up for distribution.
