RAMBO V has begun filming. To mark the occasion Sylvester Stallone took to Instagram to post a couple of shots from the production. Cool but not really a big deal right? Well, that's what I thought until I actually looked at them and when I did I was surprised to see that Sly is rocking a pretty different look for John Rambo here. Check it out:
Pretty different, huh? It makes sense if you consider that at the end of RAMBO (a.k.a. RAMBO IV), John had finally made it back to his family home to lead a peaceful life. As the man himself said though in the original FIRST BLOOD, "nothing is over".
The plot of the fifth installment of the series is said to concern Stallone coming into conflict with the Mexican cartel in the border town where his home lies. I'm sure the whole conflict will be settled over some coffee and a long chat...
...or lots of bloody violence. One of the two.
The film is being directed by Adrian Grunberg, who directed the little-seen but quite good Mel Gibson vehicle GET THE GRINGO. He was also the second unit director on projects like MAN ON FIRE, APOCALYPTO, and Netflix's NARCOS. So, the guy definitely has action chops and experience with cartel stories but will likely still be open to input from Sly during production. Seems like a good choice.
