Of "art" movie never getting good releases. How the fuck does crap like Never Back Down, Juno, Dungen Siege (that Uwe Bowl thing), P2, Hanna Montanna, Baby Mama (its on this list just because its been playing at the only art/independant movie theater near me taking up valuable screen time and its a fucking wide release film), War, and it goes on get into every god damn theater in town. While movies like this, Son of Rambo, U23D, Sunshine, Day/Night Watch, The Signal, TWWBB (before the Oscar win), Southland Tales (MEH I know, BUT STILL), and whatever. End up in some random ass theater for like a day and then are gone? I am glad to see the Redbelt got some sort of release and will be checking it out this week, before they get rid of it to make Narnia room.

Why is it a faint hope? I think it's a realistic possibility. At least, I hold VERY STRONG hope that it is. Pixar's John Carter would be animated, right? (Is that a "duh" moment?) Lee Pace has a GREAT voice to play an animated hero.

I think they will go the 300 route and use Live Action and Actors on Green Screen painting over (that is a no brainer) the process worked so well in 300.

Shot in like 20 countries, no green screen bullshit which is different. I hope its got visual dynamic of The Cell with a better fukn script/story. Who knows when the thing ill be out in oz.

There is a technology discussed in National Treasure DVD's about the process of what the Goverment uses to maintain the Declaration of Independence and other works of art. They don't scan it like you would any normal piece of paper. They have special scanner that essentially makes sure to scan all the imperfections and crusts and what not. This is key for storage in Presidential Paintings. The cool thing the software does is. Let's say you where to put a person in front of an original Abraham Lincoln. The software scans and sees the person standing in front of it as an imperfection and you essentially get a real time render of a human morphing into the painting. It looks incredible. I believe Pixar should use this technology in bringing Princess to life. Taking this technology and blending the artwork and Live Action Actors.

At The Arclight in Hollywood. I thought it was brilliant. I was not a big fan of The Cell - although I thought it had some fantastic visual elements, I thought the story was pretty weak. The Fall on the other hand is a simple yet magical story. As the fairy tale story and the real story begin to converge it becomes more and more layered and interesting. Setting aside the fantastic visuals, I would still give it a recommend just for the performances alone. Especially the little girl. Maybe I'm hyping it up too much - its probably not the best movie you'll see all year - some parts feel a little too much like an extended Calvin Klein ad - but it IS darn good. I'll guess I'll just leave it at that.

I dont think they managed to do it with moving images yet but moving images are just pictures moving at 24 frames per second. So its not impossible just requires to be redesigned and programed and used in a feature film.

I suppose you could kind of cheat it. Take the time to do SOME of the big beats in the film one frame at a time (think stop motion King Kong) then you could film the actors on green screen using the Phantom 65 cameras and film in super high quality slow motion. So you get Lee Pace put him in his unitard and sword then kind of get a make up fx artist to airbrush his body and paint his body like a human Frazetta. Then have him do his scenes normally with 2 Phantom 65 cameras on a tripod. One filming normal rate the other super slow motion rate. And then take the slow motion 4k images and make cardboard cut outs line them up in a row and Lee Pace can walk stop stand in front of a cutout and use the thing to scan on a motion control rig on a long dolly track. Would take a while and require massive processing and render farm but it's Pixar. They have the space and certainly the craft and artists to do so.
