by picardsucks

Is this the Gay team or the A-team??? Does everything in hollywood have to be updated with pretty male underwear models??? How about that Kimbo Slice guy or even Suge just got knocked out Knight. D-von Dudley the wrestler, an ex-NFL guy what the fuck or Ray Lewis with the Baltimore Ravens?? You see, you quite flaming, casting directors. In the A-Team, Face was the pretty boy, Murdoch the crazy pilot, Hannibal the old war horse military genius and BA the big baddass angry Black guy with big biceps not a Ralph Lauren Polo Sport collection underwear model.
Dwayne Johnson for the BA role.

but noone will ever replace Dwight Schultz as Murdock for me. I can see Clooney as Hannibal, Pitt as Face, Rhames as BA but Murdoch... there's just no one who can do one of my all time favourite TV characters justice. It would be like recasting Norm Petersen when George Wendt owns it. They shouldn't make The A-Team movie, like The Fall Guy i still enjoy watching the original series I don't need/want an update.

The A-Team were a product of their time. You can't update it without losing its hokey charm. Sure it was naff, the actors could never be A-listers and the plot was the same every week but the show had a real charm. Hell Mr T was an oddball for the 80's, so what they mean by 'bringing him into 21st century' is anyones guess. I disagree a bit filmcoyote, whilst the characters were generic it was the all the actors who sold the show. Replace them and you may as well just call the movie 'bog standard group of misfits action adventure 12'.

Its as pointless as remaking McGuyver

Okay, I gotta say this...
by Zodou
May 15th, 2008
10:28:29 AM
What's the point of this?

Other than the 80's nostalgia shit that's been going around lately. There is no need for an A-team movie, unless it's with the original guys. Then they've got my cash.

Well, shit not that It makes much difference anyway, I bet the script throws out everything that was fun about the original.

I always loved the shot where there'd be an explosion, and you get the stunt guy flying over the camera and landing either on his back or one of the good/bad guys.

And while I'm here, there had better be a sequence where the guys build an armor plated machine of destruction out of some tires, wood, and an old chevy nova.

Who would you cast for the McGuyver movie?

Seriously. 10-20 mill budget, mimic the low tech approach of the show, keep a good grip on practical effects, as well as a kick ass fun approach whilst treating the subject matter seriously and filmed with actors who are old enough to tie their shoelaces.

Iron Man ($400 million and rising) says audiences are keen for a few shared elements along the same lines (actors, tone)

I think....

It will be absolutely ridiculous and unwatchable for anyone who's even watched one episode of the original series.

by Puckito

I waited tables for five years and the absolute worst person I ever serevd was Tyrese. Childish, obnoxious, and outright rude. His behavior was so deplorable that even his sycophantic entourage started to look embarassed that they were with him. I don't think he's a terrible actor or anything, but it's been hard to forget that, and I have a really hard time tolerating his work in films. Just my two cents.
Clooney for Hannibal, Pitt for Face...
by Smoke Monster Loves Kate
May 15th, 2008
12:23:44 PM
Jim Carrey is the only man who can do Murdoch anywhere near the original. He's a good enough actor to at least clone his performance biopic-style.

And perhaps Michael Clarke Duncan as a new BA (though it'll still be crap without the original Mr. T).

Owen Wilson for Face could work too. Pitt would be way more distracting than Carrey.

Hannibal - has to be Clooney; Murdock - Carrey would be excellent; B.A. - why not Mr T, he could still pull it off, no one else is springing to mind who could really do it justice and B.A. is the most distinctive character so you don't wanna screw it up. Face - hmmmm, not Pitt. James Marsden? It could be a number of actors I guess but Clooney and Carrey are a lock.

... he's legit, colorful and actually wears bling. Terry Crews would be a good second choice if they want someone with the "look" and some acting experience. Michael Clarke Duncan would likely cost too much money, and Kimbo Slice-- albeit a legit tough guy--- runs the risk of being "exposed" before the movie hits the screens.
No A-Team movie please

Don't shit on the classic show by doing a remake of it. Singleton or not. This is just blasphemy.

Vince Vaughn for Murdock? Owen Wilson for Face?

Just a thought, I don't remember A-Team too well but I watched a lot of it as a kid. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn have some nice exchanges between each other and a good rapport. No matter how you do it you need to hire people that like each other so there is that undercurrent of additional chemistry; of which I think would be prerequisite for this movie to work. Think the Ocean's Eleven sequels ensemble with a good script.

Good choice Stuffedlemur, he's good in pretty much anything. I'm on board with that.

As long as Tyrese isn't in this I am pretty interested in this property, A-Team isn't exactly sacred and with the right script they could make a pretty interesting movie out of the property. As long as it was centric to the characters and their interactions with a lot of bad ass action and cool piecemeal contraptions and a sweet van modified in the eleventh hour to deal death, thrown in. How was that for a run on sentence? Oh and never forget the fuckin chopper!

Why would anyone other than Mr. T even be considered???

Perfect casting his whole schtik is acting like Murdoch anyway.
In the 90's, the wish-roster went like this:
by CreasyBear
May 15th, 2008
07:01:40 PM
Mel Gibson for Hannibal, Jim Carey as Murdoch (as picardsucks mentioned), Mr. T for B.A. (esp 10 years ago, there was no argument he could be a bad-ass), and, um, damn, I forgot who the consensus 90's Face was.

with or without the mohawk. Come on! I would settle for Michael Clarke Duncan, though. With the right actor in this role, the mohawk isn't needed.

but someone needs to stop this now. If you're going to do this, grab a young director with some actual talent and cast unknowns. The pro lens with casting big name stars in remakes is that big stars are generaly type cast and bring nothing but their egos to the table.

That is the wussiest big black guy in film. Just because he's big doesn't mean shit. Tyrese is a much better choice. Ving Rhames is too old and Michael Clark Duncan is too wussy. In truth, Mr. T was basically playing himself in the role so it would be hard to properly cast... but Tyrese is closest IMO. He's from Watts... one of the realest hoods in gang infested LA
So What

so what if tyresse is from watts he's still a wuss...versatol's not too smart if thinks no one else can play the BA role and keep it interesting.
Who cares where Tyrese is from?

What the hell does Tyrese being from Watts have to do with him playing the role of BA. Nobody watching the movie is gonna stop and think--"uh, well, that model/r&b singer doesn't seem real tough and intimidating like Mr.T did, but he's from Watts so I guess that is good enough for me and I'll just enjoy his unconvincing role in the movie". People wanna see someone who reminds them of an interesting character from the show. Bushwick Bill is from 5th Ward Texas maybe he should play the role.
Kimbo Slice is the closest we have to Mr T.

So why not take these remakes from the 80's and keep the setting in the 80's? Why update it for our time when making it throw back would be so much cooler?????

Dead set agahinst anyone else playing Mr. T, except for Mr. T until I saw the name Terry Crews. Like I think it would be funny as hell, it may work. He has the charisma. It would be much better then Tyresse or Ice Cube. Fuck Ice T would be a better choice then those two. If Ice Cube gets teh role this movie will blow. He just comes off as too lazy and slacker like.

Personally I feel that Seth Rogan should get the role though. Since we are going to allow the Apatow kids run hollywood.

Another mis casting
