HOLY SPARKLY VAMPIRES, BATMAN! Robert Pattinson Is DCEU's New BATMAN!

It was JUST announced that the new Batman for the DCEU will be Robert Pattinson (HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE, TWILIGHT)!
After the exit of Ben Affleck, rumors have been rampant over who might take up the cowl. Any number of actors, from the plausible to the ridiculous-to-consider, were talked about to inhabit the role of the Caped Crusader for Matt Reeves' upcoming film, THE BATMAN.
I know I made the sparkly vampire joke in the headline, and a lot of people deride TWILIGHT (with good reason, and I agree with them), but Pattinson was arguably the strong point in the cast of those films... glittery countenance aside. I honestly loved him as Cedric Diggory in HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE, so I'm hopeful an older, more mature RP will make a good Mr. Wayne. I think he's got the chops to pull it off, and will likely do a great job. With Reeves having revealed he plans on taking Batman AWAY from TJL and back to Gotham, a return to his roots with a fresh actor in the role might JUST be what it takes to salvage what's left of the (somehow both) technicolor/chrome AND gritty/grey DCEU. At the very least, he will be better than brooding, Mechabat Murderguy Affleck, and he also probably won't have nipples and a neon Batcave (looking at YOU Schumacher/Clooney).
All jokes aside, I like Pattinson and think he could do well here. I'm anxious to see what Reeves does with him within the role. Plus, he probably won't sparkle.
That's it for now, so until next time,
Keep it geek!
