Gotham 4.2 FAQ
What’s it called?
“The Fear Reaper.”
Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is credited to Danny Cannon (“CSI,” “Dark Blue”).
What says Fox?
“Under pressure to prove that the GCPD is still powerful, Gordon attempts to bring in Jonathan Crane. However, Gordon puts himself in a dangerous situation at Arkham when he is forced to fight off lunatics and the demon within himself. Meanwhile, Bruce receives a gift from Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk), after a misstep that lands him in the GCPD. Then, with Barbara’s (Erin Richards) unexpected return, Selina (Camren Bicondova) and Tabitha (Jessica Lucas) must consider the risks that come with joining her in the weapons business.”
How does it start?
Gordon and Bullock investigate Crane’s sad little laboratory.
Is Penguin still issuing crime permits?
Following the “Penguin Or Chicken” headline in the Gotham Gazette, Gordon vows to arrest anyone in possession of one. But Penguin is still selling them.
How did Barbara survive last season’s electrocution?
“This is Gotham. Check for a pulse next time.”
Is there a bat on Bruce’s chest at this point?
No.
Is Lucius’ gift to Bruce a Batarang?
The gift is featured in the promo above.
Does Butch make his debut as Solomon Grundy this week?
No Butch or Cyrus or Grundy this week. But Tabitha does name-check Butch to ensure we don’t forget about him.
What’s doing with Jim and Leslie?
Ah. That would be telling.
What’s doing with Ivy and Catgirl?
Tabitha comes between them.
What’s doing with Freeze and Firefly?
Nothing.
What’s doing with Dr. Strange?
Nothing with Hugo either.
Does Penguin defrost Frozen Riddler with a kiss this week?
No.
Is the tetched Nathanial Barnes back?
No.
Does Carmine Falcone seek vengeance against Jervis Tetch for endangering his family?
“Italians do not forget that crap,” says Harvey near episode’s end, though Tetch seems far from Harvey’s mind.
The big news?
I’d call this a big episode for Ivy. Also, some criminals unmask The Batman.
What else is Fox not telling us?
Alexander Siddig is still in the opening credits but Ra’s Al Ghul fails to turn up this week. I think.
What’s good?
“There’s a Thai place nearby.” Barbara’s new lair. Charlie Tahan as Scarecrow. Erin Richards as Barbara Kean. Anthony Carrigan as Victor Zsasz. Maggie Geha as Hot Ivy. Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan. Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin. Donal Logue as Bullock. Ben McKenzie as Gordon.
What’s not so good?
The idea of lunatics running Arkham feels plenty shopworn at this point. And this show just doesn't have the same zing now that writer-producer Ben Edlund is busy again with the vastly superior superhero show “The Tick.”
How does it end, spoiler boy?
Bruce stands atop a tall building.
8 p.m. Thursday. Fox.
