I’m introducing “Les Affames” also known as “The Ravenous.” Watch the trailer below:
I know some people get tired of the zombies on screen, I’m not one of them. I love the zombie realm. I've collected just about every zombie movie i could find. In fact, i just made my kids watch the “Night of the Living Dead” and “Dawn of the Dead” back to back two nights ago. This looks to be a zombie film but there may be more at play here, it’s hard to tell. What I do see I like a lot.
“Les Affames” is directed by Robin Aubert. I’m not familiar with his work, but this French Canadian film won the Toronto International Film Festival for Best Canadian Film at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.
Sounds biased to me. Heh
Seriously this one looks great, I love the atmosphere, the zombies look pretty great, the stunning landscapes. Which I looked up and were shot in Ham-Nord Quebec, the hometown of Robin Aubert. As long as this one doesn’t take an hour to show some action, I’m all in.
The story follows 3 different groups of people. A town where the humans have risen and returned is no longer hospitable and they each face different obstacles escaping to safety. Each group is followed by cameras and zombies alike as they make their way to the forest looking for other living humans. This one stars Marc-Andre Grondin and Micheline Lanctot. Let’s hope this one does something different with the zombies and isn’t a rehash of what we’ve seen before.
