Teleplay is credited to longtime “Walking Dead” showrunner Scott Gimple and new “Fear The Walking Dead” showrunners Andrew Chambliss & Ian Goldberg (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Once Upon A Time”).
What says AMC?
“A lone traveler's wearying journey is interrupted by new acquaintances, some who become friend, others who become foe.”
This show has been a real piece of shit, starting with the very first episode scripted by “Walking Dead” comic creator Robert Kirkman. Now that Gimple’s in charge, is it any better?
So much better. This year’s first two “Fear” episodes are better than most regular “Walking Dead” episodes!
How does it start?
“Someone there?” asks the man in the hat.
Is Morgan the Man In The Hat?
No. It’s a new character, John, played by Garrett Dillahunt.
Is this the first “Fear” episode with Lennie James as Morgan?
Yes. He appears in the first scene.
Does Morgan ride a helicopter this week?
He does not.
How is Morgan in this? Is “Fear” now set contemporaneously with the original “Walking Dead”?
AMC won’t let me talk about that. Or much of anything, really. But the promos depict Morgan playing with his deadly Aikido stick, so I guess you’ll be forgiven if you suspect at least part of this series takes place after Morgan met Eastman, the Aikido Master played by John Carroll Lynch in 6.4.
The big news?
The title card, if that’s what you call it, is different.
What else is AMC not telling us?
When 4.1 concluded, I was very keen to watch 4.2.
What’s good?
The surprises. Dillahunt. Maggie Grace. Althea’s transportation. The hand up. “What’s your story?” “Shut the door.” “I got no beef with you gentlemen.” “Noodles. And effort.” The knocking on the metal door. The journey.
What’s not so good?
That it took so years for “Fear The Walking Dead” to produce an episode worthy of the TV franchise launched by Frank Darabont so many years ago.
How does it end, spoiler boy?
“So what the hell’s your story?”
