Disgusting food-eating competitions used to be a staple on “Survivor.” But I don’t remember seeing any for a long while, and I always assumed it was because there was a mishap and nervous lawyers got involved. Maybe they fired those lawyers because the food challenge is somehow back tonight. Maybe the show will soon return to giving away automobiles as well?

Last week was a bad week for shows with the word “Survivor” in the title. CBS’ “Survivor” lost ground to Fox’s still-robust “Empire” while ABC’s “Designated Survivor” was the lowest-rated show on The Big Four. (“Survivor” still did better than “Modern Family” and all the sitcoms on ABC and all the crime shows on NBC and CBS.)
The FBI raid on Trump attorney Michael Cohen continued to goose cable news ratings, with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow atop all others as usual.
