Looks like they’re making another Chris Hemsworth “Star Trek” movie after all.
S.J. Clarkson, who created the “Mistresses” series for BBC and ABC before she directed the pilot episodes of Netflix’ “Jessica Jones” and “The Defenders,” will direct the next movie starring Chris Pine as Captain Kirk.
Clarkson’s Trek movie is not to be confused with the much more mysterious Trek movie Quentin Tarantino may direct from one of his own ideas – once Tarantino is done directing Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio in “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.”
Presumably written by Patrick McKay and John D. Payne (and/or “Star Trek Beyond” screenwriters Simon Pegg and Doug Jung), Clarkson’s movie is expected to reunite Pine and Hemsworth with Zachary Quinto’s Mr. Spock. Hemsworth appeared in J.J. Abrams’ 2009 “Star Trek” movie as Kirk’s doomed dad.
Clarkson’s long list of TV directing credits include episodes of “Heroes,” “House,” “Dexter,” “Smash,” “Bates Motel,” “The Bridge,” “Hostages,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Dig” “Vinyl,” and the 4-hour 2018 BBC Two/Netflix miniseries "Collateral."
Tarantino’s Trek movie is being written by “The Revenant” screenwriter Mark L. Smith, working from a story by Tarantino.
