Teaser Poster For Gaspar Noe’s next film CLIMAX

Hey Everyone Freddy Beans here,

With a teaser poster for Gaspar Noe’s next film CLIMAX.

Those that watch safe films will probably not be familiar with this guy, yet he’s one of the best out there. Every time out the gate he consistently makes though provoking films, if also quite shocking.  I'm a fan because i simply prefer my directors to play within almost no boundaries.  Well, I thought that until I watched A SERBIAN FILM and now I can safely state I prefer a gate, just further back than most.  I’m not at all saying A SERBIAN FILM was a bad film.  It wasn’t.  It was an incredibly compelling work, insisting on dredging in the muck so deeply even I have to admit it’s one of the toughest things I’ve ever committed to viewing.

Here’s a quick snapshot of Gaspar’s films I’ve seen.

Gaspar Noe burst on the scene for me with IRREVERSIBLE.  I picked it up for the cover.  Simple, yet reeling.  Kind of sucks you in and makes you wonder.  It’s an art film bookended by two very deep discussions between lovers.  Those tomes in the middle are brutal. There’s a magic to the way this guy envisions his films.  You feel the desperation of the two boyfriends (an ex and a current) as they search the streets for answers to what happened to Alex. (Monica Bellucci)  It’s a gut punch of a film and made him a must see director for me much in the way Michael Haneke did with BENNY’S VIDEO and later with FUNNY GAMES.  By showing me things no one else was showing in film.

The first order of business when I got my NETFLIX account was to find the films I couldn’t in the years before.  Ahem CANNIBAL FEROX.  I STAND ALONE was my first venture into this new movie by internet world and I wasn’t disappointed.  The Butcher is all the main character is known as through the film, or Le boucher because it’s French.  He is disgruntled in life and starts lashing out as we find him on his search for an estranged daughter.  Think FALLING DOWN but about a billion times better.  This is a bleak film, but powerful and absolutely recommended if you like your movies unsafe.

ENTER THE VOID is Gaspar’s third film and maybe his best.  It’s hard for me, I seem to love everything this guy does.  To condense this one into a paragraph is impossible, Gaspar doesn’t make those type of films, but this is essentially a story of a drug dealer betrayed by his best friend.  Right away the main character is killed in a shootout, if dumping your drugs while getting blasted through the bathroom doors can be called a shootout.  That’s when the story here beings though, as the camera becomes his spirit and jumps in and out of bodies in sometimes shocking manner as he seeks what we all want when we die.  A way back.  It’s an excellent film and is littered with a uniquely visioned talent.

LOVE is the only film of his currently on NETFLIX streaming and it’s the only one I haven’t seen.  I’m not sure why I haven’t committed to this one yet.  I absolutely love that poster and think it captures the director perfectly with its teasing image and colors tinged with just the right amount of ick factor.  It wouldn’t be a Gaspar film without some of that last bit.   I’ll catch LOVE this weekend however and be a few breaths from CLIMAX!  ;)
Any other Gaspar fans out there?
Til next time Kids
