Amy Seimetz has joined the cast of the PET SEMATARY remake/reboot currently in production from Paramount Pictures.

Fans will recognize Amy from season 2 of STRANGER THINGS as well as last year’s ALIEN: COVENANT. She joins the cast as the female lead opposite Jason Clarke (TERMINATOR: GENISYS), who is already a living horror picture, playing the parents of the precocious child that brings everyone misery as he ventures into the titular cemetery. The incomparable John Lithgow (RICOCHET) has also been cast.

Perhaps the most exciting news surrounding this project is the writing team. David Kajganich, Matt Greenberg, and Jeff Buhler have penned the adaptation of the classic Stephen King thriller. Kajganich is a name you should know as he has been instrumental in the success of multiple high-interest properties, most notably AMC’s “The Terror” and the revival of the classic Dario Argento horror film, SUSPIRIA. Greenberg has written adaptations of Stephen King’s 1408 and “Gramma” (as MERCY), and Buhler is the writer behind resurrected properties THE GRUDGE and JACOB’S LADDER.

The film is directed by STARRY EYES’s Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Steven Schneider, and Mark Vahradian.

This outing represents a renewed interest in King’s classic works, alongside CARRIE, IT, THE SHINING, THE STAND, and HEARTS IN ATLANTIS, to name a few. Of course, this isn’t the first time Hollywood has tried to resurrect interest in Pet Sematary. Remember in the mid-90s when film producers thought Edward Furlong was bankable Hollywood currency? “He can curse while his voice breaks AND look terrified in bangs? Put him in everything!”

Of course, credit goes to casting walking horror film Clancy Brown in this one, so it wasn’t a total loss.

We’ll hope to see you all at the “sematary” when the film premieres on April 5, 2019. Until then, see you at the movies!
