Valente's Novel "SPACE OPERA" Film in Talks! SCI-FI MUSICAL!

Hola Dannie aqui,

On May 31st Deadline reported  about a film that is in its infancy of production with Marc Platt & Colin Trevorrow, "SPACE OPERA" based on the novel by Catherynne M. Valente. I have yet to read the novel, but after researching for this write-up, I must say this looks like a book I will be picking up soon! People throughout the world have compared the book to "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams, mixed with a psychedelic galactic battle of the bands for the safety of the performer's homeworlds. Drawing parallels between this novel and Hitchhiker's Guide is a big deal to me, Hitchhikers Guide has always been a sacred text in my home, a combination of everything I love about sci-fi and philosophy. A lot of people will probably throw their hands up in protest that anything could ever be as delightfully badass as Hitchhikers. But geeks and geekettes, "DONT PANIC!" I have read a great many book reviews on "SPACE OPERA" and NPR's was the one that really got me excited about this project. Read NPR's book review of "SPACE OPERA" by Jason Sheehan here.

Marc Platt who produced many hit films that are extremely music based or are full-on musical films like "La La Land," "Drive," "Scott Pilgrim vs the World," and the non-musical but great film "The Girl on the Train." Platt has had many ups as mentioned before, and some downs like "HONEY" or 2001's "Josie and the Pussycats" which now has a small cult following. Platt has the learned and practiced experience that could catapult this film either way.

Colin Trevorrow has been a busy bee working on producing and writing for the Jurrasic World trilogy and co-writing STAR WARS: Episode IX which is currently in pre-production and set for release on December 20th, 2019. One could assume seeing as "SPACE OPERA" has yet to be listed on IMDB and Trevorrow has Star Wars currently, the recently announced Jurassic World 3 set for release in 2021, and "Intelligent Life" with no announced release it may be quite a wait for "SPACE OPERA." I am also curious as to whether Trevorrow will tap his work buddy Chris Pratt on the shoulder for a role in "SPACE OPERA." Pratt has the quirky snarkiness of someone who stepped right out of the Hitchhikers universe, and I am willing to bet Pratt can kick some serious Karaoke ass he seems like a crooner to me.

What do y'all think? Any of you out there in the interweb read and have feelings about the book? I am very interested to see what will become of this project, and can not help but think of the episode of Rick & Morty with a very similar storyline, I have included a small clip of the episode for the sheer fun of it. The concept I think is one that could be utterly hilarious and trippy to boot cannot wait to grab the book!
