With the third teaser trailer for THE PREDATOR from 20th Century FOX.
OK, you win, I’m now excited for this one. Anyone else?
THE PREDATOR is directed by Shane Black who made the worst Iron Man movie (part 3), in my opinion. Yet, I’m willing to forgive him because he also directed the excellent KISS KISS BANG BANG.
I think all the actors here can pull this one off. The tone feels quite a bit more like being chased by Michael Myers during late October than Predator.
Not that I’m complaining, I like em dark and THE PREDATOR looks dark and like a lot of fun.
There’s a ton of new stuff on this teaser, the main piece being we finally get some good shots of the Mega-Predator or whatever he’s being billed as: Gargantuan Predator? Collosus?? I can keep going if you like?
I do have one major pet peeve here. Maybe it’s from being inundated and utterly disappointed with JURASSIC WORLD this weekend, but what’s with all the token dinosaur roars in this teaser? I preferred the Predator that mimicked its prey. That’s the ultimate disgrace right? To lose a hard fought battle and then get some alien smack talk laid down on ya. There has to be different sounds for angry animals/aliens on a sound board out there, are they all using the same one? It’s literally the same bellow we got way back during JAWS 4 as the broken bowsprit impales the great white and kills him…AGAIN. It’s a bit like the late 80’s when every bad guy had to sound Freddy Kruegery (new word)
I’m a big fan of the first two Predator movies and the rest are serviceable but nothing I’d recommend. I know I’ll get shit for loving part 2 like I do, but I can take it. It’s right up there with the first one for me. The first one was made during Arnold’s heyday (1987) and holds one of his iconic phrasings that seem to click in the cinema lexicon like "I'll be Back!"
