Hola Dannie aqui,
Here with the news that actor Jared Leto has committed to star in a "MORBIUS" movie! Leto's crossing over to Marvel after having played the heavily tattooed Joker in 2016's "SUICIDE SQUAD" I film that DC fans either love or HATE. I am glad that Leto's got a thick skin and the haters didn't scare him from comic related cinema. I did not hate Suicide Squad. I just thought it was a lukewarm experience, and I didn't hate Leto's Joker either. Getting back on the current subject, Leto was always interested in the "MORBIUS" movie. However, he was waiting for the film to find a director that Leto believed would be a good fit for the project. As soon as he heard director Daniel Espinosa was attached they met up and sealed the deal. Espinosa, you may know from his films "Safe House," "Easy Money," and the Sci-Fi hit "Life."
Morbius was birthed into the comic realm by Roy Thomas (writer) and Gil Kane (artist) back in 1971's "The Amazing Spider-Man #101." The origin of Morbius? He was a sickly scientist who tried to cure himself of a blood disorder and instead turned himself into basically a bloodthirsty vampire plaguing the streets of New York. Eventually, this led to Morbius battling the friendly neighborhood Spiderman! In 1992, "Morbius, the Living Vampire" comics came out, which is where I mainly know the character from as that was the height of my comic-obsessed days. During that period of time, I was setting up at comic conventions all across the country and comics were my bread and butter. Specifically I loved the dark characters like "Spawn," "Catwoman," "Cerebus" "Cry for Dawn," and "Morbius."
It's needless to say I am looking forward to the film, I am geeking out pretty darn hard and am inspired to dig up my Morbius comics and listen to the soundtrack of "The Crow!" What do all of you out there tangled in the world wide web think of Leto as Morbius? I can not wait to see a picture of him in makeup!
Stay Strong, Live Good, Love Movies!
