A 31-year old Democrat named Danny O’Conner may or may not win Tuesday’s special election in Ohio’s 12th congressional district, which has been held by a Republican longer than O’Conner has been alive. This is the last major special election before the November midterms. Donald Trump and Mike Pence have both campaigned on behalf of O’Connor’s opponent. A recent Emerson poll put O’Connor ahead of his opponent by one percent.
It is said to be very difficult, bordering on impossible, for a Republican candidate to win a presidential election without winning Ohio.
O’Connor is not to be confused with Conor Lamb, the Democrat who defeated his Republican opponent in a special March 13 election for Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district. Lamb’s Republican predecessor was Tab Murphy, a longtime “pro-life” congressman who did not disclose to his wife that he secretly impregnated his girlfriend before asking her to abort the fetus.
An ABC reality show and a TBS comedy show, both inspired by ABC’s long-departed “Lost,” get premieres tonight.
