THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is a series that has produced films of wildly varying quality. The last film released in the series, simply called LEATHER FACE was met with box office disappointment and fan indifference. After this release though, the rights of the franchise reverted back to Kim Henkel. Henkel was a writer and producer on the classic 1974 original film and the director of 1994's not so classic (but still kind of fun) TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE NEXT GENERATION (starring Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger!!).
Well, word has come from Brad Miska, over at Bloody Disgusting, that Legendary Entertainment is looking to secure the rights, so they can produce new films and yes... a TV series based on the property.
What would a Leatherface TV show even look like? Would it be a prequel BATES MOTEL kind of thing? An anthology series about people unfortunate enough to run afoul of the Sawyer clan? Would it be about Leatherface and the gang crashing ginger children’s birthday parties? Who knows?
What do you guys think? Let us know!
