Afternoon, geeks!
Dwayne Johnson is saying yes to the role he was born to play! He will star as King Kamehameha in THE KING! “From the writer of BRAVEHEART and the director of WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT comes the story of the King that united the Hawaiian Islands.”
Johnson will be producing with his company Seven Bucks Productions with Dany Garcia. Apparently Johnson has been trying to get this movie made for decades, according to Hollywood Reporter. Being of Polynesian descent, Johnson must be thrilled to be sharing his culture. “Last year, a Hawaiian Kahu, a priest, held a ceremony blessing the project, Johnson, Wallace and Garcia in Hawaii.” Wow!
I honestly don’t have much previous knowledge about King Kamehameha beyond the fact that he was a King of Hawaii. I think the average weeaboo may know that his name is also the game of Goku’s trademark attack. Or not. Anyways, I would love to see a telling of the story of King Kamehameha, it’s certainly not something that has been told very often on the big screen.
You're welcome!
