Today a trailer for Clint Eastwood's newest film "THE MULE" came out and it looks insanely intense. There is a point in the trailer where Eastwood's face expresses a panicked fear that is stifling, as I have never seen that kind of desperation from him. That look is terrifying. This film has taken years to come to fruition and is based on the true story of Leo Sharp a 90-year-old drug smuggler/mule (pictured above on the right). They have changed his name in the film from Leo Sharp to Earl Stone and Clint will be tackling the extraordinary character.
Warner Bros. describes the film as-

Pictures, Imperative Entertainment and BRON Creative comes Clint Eastwood’s newest feature film, the drama “The Mule.” In addition to directing, the veteran actor will step in front of the lens again, alongside fellow stars Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Dianne Wiest and Andy Garcia, as well as Alison Eastwood, Taissa Farmiga, Ignacio Serricchio and Loren Dean, Eugene Cordero."
"Eastwood stars as Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does well—so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. "Clint Eastwood (“Sully,” “American Sniper”) directed from a screenplay by Nick Schenk (“Gran Torino”), inspired by the New York Times Magazine article “The Sinaloa Cartels’ 90-Year-Old Drug Mule” by Sam Dolnick. Eastwood also produced the film under his Malpaso banner, along with Tim Moore, Kristina Rivera and Jessica Meier, and Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas. The film’s executive producers are Dave Bernad, Ruben Fleischer, Todd Hoffman and Aaron Gilbert. Jillian Apfelbaum and David M. Bernstein co-produced. Well, this film is set to light up theaters on December 14th, of this year. I love Clint Eastwood in all the roles he plays, both as actor and director he has never let me down and it does not look like this old dawg is changing his tricks anytime soon. I am also delighted that Eastwood has teamed up again with screenwriter Nick Schenk who wove together the obscene “Gran Torino” a film I adore. How do all of you out there in Geeklandia feel about the trailer? I for one will be looking forward to this film like a junkie praying for a fix.
