Bill Hicks biopic on the way!

Collider reports that Richard Linklater (BOYHOOD) will write and direct a film based on the life of comedian Bill Hicks for Focus Features.

Bill Hicks, who was known for biting and controversial  comedic routines about religion and politics, tragically passed away at the age of 32 due to cancer.

Here is what Linklater had to say about his interest in Bill Hicks:

“There’s not quite any others like him. They don’t speak in the same voice. You’d think people would take that torch and go with it, but it’s a rare combination of that kind of intelligence, mysticism, political, you know… his politics, his angle, it’s pretty unique ...I go through my life all the time… everything that’s going on in our culture, I always think, what would Bill Hicks be doing? You just miss him.

There's no word yet on when this project will get rolling. It's hard to even fathom who they would cast to portray Hicks. What do you guys think? Oh... and do you think Linklater could get Tool to do the soundtrack? Let us know in the comments!
