Check out the Trailer for Richard Linklater's "WHERE’D YOU GO BERNADETTE"

What’s up movie lova’s!  Sam here to talk about the film WHERE’D YOU GO, BERNADETTE expected to hit theaters August 9, 2019.

WHERE’D YOU GO BERNADETTE is a dramedy (drama/comedy) about Bernadette Fox played by Cate Blanchett a wife and mother who disappears from her life in Seattle, WA.  Her husband Elgie (Billy Crudup) and daughter Becky (Troian Bellisario) are on a search to find Bernadette and during their search audiences are taken on a journey to learn more about exactly who this woman is.  Check out the trailer:

This film is directed by Richard Linklater who also wrote the screenplay with Holly Gent and Vincent Palmo Jr. a.k.a. Vince Palmo.  The screenplay is based upon the 2012 bestselling novel WHERE’D YOU GO BERNADETTE written by Maria Semple.

If it seems as if the movie trailer or even my description of the film is vague, that’s because it is.  The unfolding of this story is rather unique and should remain so.  If you feel you need to know more, take on an encounter with the book, I did after seeing all the 5-star reviews.  However, I need to be honest with you I didn’t love the audible adaption.  There were moments that made me laugh out loud (which is something I love to experience when I read), but I didn’t find the overall story compelling. On the flip side, I am finding these days that sometimes film adaptions are actually exceeding books.   Bernadette is a very odd woman and while I listened to this novel in my head I seen her as quirky, eccentric and all I could think about was Joan Cusack.

So I was pleased to see that Cate Blanchett was selected for the role a Bernadette.

Cate has a striking and unconventional beauty that suits this role with sheer perfection.  Some might say, “She is a very handsome woman.”  Blanchett is in the league of the illustrious Joan Crawford and I have always felt her looks and talent would have sheer perfection for the black and white era of film.

It’s up in the air if I go to the theater to see this one, but one way or another I will eventually watch it.  Tell me your thoughts.  Did you read the book?

Peace out film lova’s - Sam
