NBC has released a fifteen-second promo trailer that sees main character Dr Ben Seung "Leap" into the body of a woman in 1986 Los Angeles. Although short, the clip is a fun little look at the taste of the show and gives us a small window into the kind of people he might inhabit. I'm guessing that this is from the pilot but I may indeed be wrong. Quantum leap, if you didn't already know, is a beloved series that aired on NBC from 1989 to 1993 and featured the adventures of Dr Sam Beckett (played wonderfully by Scott Bakula) who steps into a device called the Quantum Leap Accelerator and vanishes through time. He wakes to find himself in a body that isn't his own and every week for five seasons he "Leaped" from life to life hoping to set right what once went wrong. This new series takes place 30 years after Sam's disappearance and features a new team. Whether or not Bakula will reprise his original role is under wraps but I for one would love to see Sam make the leap home. The original show is considered by many to be one of the greatest cult series of all time and won several Primetime Emmys and Golden Globes for its acting, storytelling and cinematography. This continuation of the original has pretty big shoulders to stand on, I just hope it can deliver something special. As usual, let us know what you think in the talkbacks and I'll see you on the next leap...
*UPDATE*
NBC has now released a full-length trailer for the show which gives us a far better look at the characters, time periods and feel of the show. I won't lie to you, I'm not impressed. It looks far from the quality of the original but I'll leave you to make that judgement for yourself...
