WHAT HAS DEADPOOL DONE? Hollywood has found a way to get you back into the theater after DEADPOOL 2 returned to theaters months later as ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL, which was just DEADPOOL 2 with a little more than 20 minutes of new footage. ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL made an entire extra $50 million worldwide. DEADPOOL 2 by itself made $785 million on it’s own.
Oscar winner A STAR IS BORN, starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, appears to be the next in trying out this milking tactic. Warner Bros Pictures is bringing us A STAR IS BORN ENCORE, with “never before scene moments!” 12 whole minutes of those! It will be released on 1150+ screens in North America for one week only, starting March 1st.
Ah, I couldn't resist a SU reference.
This special edition of the film contains, according to the press release:
Extended performances of such songs as opener “Black Eyes”; “Alibi”; and Lady Gaga’s Ally in her impromptu a cappella performance of “Shallow,” which received the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 91st Annual Academy Awards, following Cooper and Gaga’s moving performance during the ceremony. Moviegoers will also be treated to never-before-seen footage of Ally singing to Jack “Is That Alright?” in the wedding sequence; Jack in his studio singing “Too Far Gone”; Jack and Ally writing a new song together, entitled “Clover”; and much more, totaling nearly 12 additional minutes.
